mmmmm....new foods!

I thought it would be fun to take a picture of Macyn's first bites of new foods we have tried. There isn't anything she doesn't like yet. The initial reactions are classic - see for yourself!
.....to be continued.

Enchilada Pizza

I get random magazines from the library and found this super easy and quick recipe that is absolutely delicious! All you do is get some pizza dough in the tube and roll it out on a pan. Top with enchilada sauce, cooked chicken, shredded cheese, chili beans, and green chilis (or jalepenos of you like it spicier) and then you bake it for 12-15 minutes. Finished! You could always make it as hot or as bland as you want by using hot enchilada sauce and hot chili beans. I like mine a little milder so I stick with regular sauce and beans. It also tastes good to add sour cream and whatever else you want!

A Prom Filled Weekend

I went to see aunt Brooke at prom and we took some cute pics!
And one with Austin too...And one with Mom....
AND some with my future vehicle....a Hummer. I tried driving but my feet couldn't reach the pedals and I couldn't see over the steering wheel. So I decided to just hang out in the back seat instead

6 Month Photos

Macyn had gotten her 6 month pictures taken at Hills. Like always, there are always photos I have fallen in love with. These are just a few of my favorites. I made her tutu and bow, and her shirt was from a rummage sale! All photos are posted on the Hills website. If you want to know the password, just ask me....or if you knew the password from her baby photos, its the same one. Enjoy!

Garage Sales = Success

I went to the annual Spring city wide rummages. I started on Wednesday and got done today. I pretty much bought Macyn a completely new wardrobe (if you couldn't tell from the picture). I bought mostly summer stuff and a few fall/winter items. It was exhausting getting her in and out of the car and searching through tons of clothes at each sale, but it was worth it. On Friday and Saturday alone I put on 40+ miles just driving around! Some places are completely over-priced like $13 outfits, $4 sleepers and $35 for a used Bumbo and tray - YIKES! So I keep a budget in my head for each item.

I will pay no more than:
$5 per outfit
$3 per jacket
$2 per sleeper
$2 per pair of shoes
$2 per pair of shorts/capris
$1 per shirt
$1 per onesie

Anyways, here is the inventory I collected:
12 bibs, 12 outfits, 5 pairs of shorts/capris, 2 pairs of tights, 1 swimsuit cover-up, 2 dresses, 3 shirts, 1 Vikings cheerleader outfit that can double as a Halloween costume, 1 romper, 6 onesies, 7 fleece sleepers, 4 light weight sleepers, 2 jackets (different sizes), 1 winter coat, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 books, 1 toy, 1 grow with me walker, and one blanket (only because it was freezing and I forgot ours at home)

I am not quite sure how much I spent total on all these items since I paid some cash and some check, but I am sure my bank statement will let me know :)

My Newest Love

.....besides Macyn, my DH, and Joe Mauer :):):):) is................... my new washer and dryer. I never would have thought that love and laundry could go in the same sentence, but i absolutely LOVE them!We always had an okay washer and dryer, but when I won $500 at DH's Christmas party, I decided to put that money to good use. With his discount, the gift card, and bonus money I haven't spent, they actually didn't cost me a thing out of pocket. The one thing I was worried about was if they would be easy to use or not - and the answer is YESS!!! They ARE easy to use!First, you turn the dial to the setting you want to wash. It automatically sets everything for you. If you wanted to manually change anything about the load you are about to wash, you just select from the options. Then you press start, and it weighs your clothes to determine how much water to use. No more guessing whether you have a small, medium, large, or super load. It also dispenses the soap you put in so you do not get detergent stains on your clothes. When it is finished it makes a nice ring tone-like sound. It also displays how much time is left on your load on the little screen. The dryer is quite similar to the washer. You select what kind of dry you want, and select a couple options and press start. It's that simple! This also has a sensor in it to determine how wet your clothes are and runs as long as it needs to. It shows you how much time is left on the little screen and also plays a pleasant ring tone when it is finished.....and I almost forgot - it has a light in the dryer (kinda like a fridge):Necessary? Not really. But cool? Definitely. So, in summary, things I love about them:
1) They are on pedestals so I no longer have to bend over to do laundry
2) They are super energy efficient. The washing machine will cost us about 34 dollars per year to run
3) I know exactly how much time is left on each load
4) They are quiet when the run - no more turning the TV up to level 57!
5) No more annoying buzzers to let you know when its done
6) I don't have to run the dryer 3 times to get my clothes dry like my last one
7) Laundry now gets done faster

And things I hate about them?
1) They didn't include anything Joe Mauer-related. Booooooo

6 Month Check-up

Macyn's check-up went well! She is 15 lbs 8 oz which bumps her up to the 50th percentile. She is 26 1/2 inches long which is the 90th. Our doctor thinks she may just be a tall girl! She is showing her "so big" picture above. ....more 6 month photos to come! Her ear infection is completely gone, but may be susceptible every time she cuts a tooth since she drools more and it drains into her ears. So we will see. She has been a very happy girl the past few days, I love seeing her be herself again!

6 Months!

Macyn was actually six months old last week already, but she has been off to a pretty rough start. She turned 6 months on Wednesday, and on Thursday she was diagnosed with a double ear infection and she also popped through her first tooth Thursday night! It was probably the worst night we have had with her since she had been home from the hospital. There isn't much you can do for a baby with ear pain and tooth pain - poor thing! She is on some antibiotics and is starting to feel more like happy, healthy, self. As for her tooth, only one has broken through and there aren't any signs others are going to follow soon. I hope she isn't as fussy with the next ones, but we will see....She can sit up by herself for a few seconds at a time, but can usually always sit on her boppy pillow pretty well. She likes to push up on her arms like a big girl when she is on her tummy. She has rolled over a few times from her tummy to back (she seems to have forgotten that trick) but still constantly rolls from her back to tummy. She also likes to hold her own bottle and chug that thing down!

She still likes to laugh at Buddy (see previous post) and does this almost daily. He better watch it because before you know it, she will probably be terrorizing him :) . We tried to get her 6 month photos done last week, but do to her ear infection and teething, they didn't go so well. The outfit she was going to wear is too small to fit over her head, so we will probably dress her in something else. Or, she could wear her tutu my sister and I made for her:She will probably wear this and another outfit, but we will see. I hope to post instructions of the how-to-tutu once I get time. The actual tutu looks better than this picture because i trimmed up the edges and fluffed it a little bit.

She has her 6 month check up tomorrow so I am anxious to see how much she has grown - I will keep you blog readers updated :)

Friday Fun with Brooke

Auntie Brooke came over to visit on Friday to watch Macyn while I went to the chiropractor. She wanted to see her Easter outfit and take some pictures, so we played dress up. Turns out that was a good idea since she decided to poop through it on Easter Sunday! We also made a trip to WalMart, the bakery, a clothing store, a sporting goods store, and the library! Whew! We had fun though!

A Few New Tricks

Over the past week or so, Macyn has started to be able to sit up on her boppy pillow all by herself...she cannot quite sit up alone yet, but this is a step in the right direction. She even says "Look mom! - I can balance on 1 leg!"She also can roll over to her stomach, but has forgotten how to roll over the other way. So she ends up in her crib on her tummy and cannot figure out how to get back over. She pretty much looks like this every morning! Her last trick she has learned is pushing all the way up on her arms. She does this most the time every time she is placed on her tummy. Its hard to believe that in a few short months she will be crawling!
