5 Years Later...

We celebrated our five year anniversary! Hard to believe it has been that long already. We decided to put on our wedding outfits and take some anniversary photos. I was in shock that my wedding dress still fit after a kid, considering I tried putting it on for our one year anniversary and it didn't fit! I guess all this dieting and working out is starting to pay off :)

Here are a few other pictures too. Macyn wanted to put on a "pretty dress" and some "cinderella shoes like mom." We let her join our pictures and she felt pretty special!

Anniversary Date

DH and I planned a getaway for our 5 year anniversary. We used a groupon and went 18 holes worth of golf. I survived all 18, but unfortunately 8 of my golf balls didn't. Every hole had water except for 3 of them, so that isn't too bad I guess?

After that we did a little shopping and checked into our hotel - a whirpool suite. Let me tell you, I was super sore after golfing that much and I definitely needed that! We then went out for the night and hit up downtown, Minervas, and the falls. We couldn't forget about dessert! We stopped at Coldstone and picked up a brownie sundae and brought it back to our hotel. Good thing, because it was soooo good we wanted another!
After staying over night, we got up and did some more shopping the next day. We ate at Applebees for lunch using a gift card and then headed to SCity to see my grandpa. It was a nice weekend to getaway!

The First Night

Well, it has happened. Macyn had her very first night of sleeping by Mom and Dad because she was scared of the thunderstorms. She woke up around 2:00 AM and came into our room. DH put her back to bed, but she was back within 20 minutes. She said "Storms are scary...I stay by you." So she slept all night by us.

This morning I asked her where she slept and she said, "Mommy & Daddy's bed! Mommy and Daddy are nice!" I asked her why she slept there and she said, "I don't like the storms, they are scary!"

I don't want her to make a habit of sleeping in bed with us, but I have to say, it was nice to comfort her during the "scary rain."

Flowers!

We decided to go pick out and plant some flowers in my big flower pot tonight. Macyn had fun running around and smelling the flowers at Walmart. She was having a great time!

We bought some impatiens, the same ones that actually grew last year. Hopefully this year we have as much luck! We also bought Macyn her very own flower pot and planted some pink ones.
She also liked helping me with my flower pot too. She got a little crazy with the watering can, but I figured that would be better than getting a little crazy with the garden sprayer!
Crossing my fingers they grow this year!

Rompers

Macyn wore her romper today - she was pretty happy to show it off!

Haircut!

Since the last time Macyn had her haircut was before her surgery in December, we decided it would be nice to have a little trim. She even curled it, teased it a little, and hair sprayed it. Macyn was a great customer and had a nice conversation.

Macyn: "You wearing a skirt?"
Cosmetologist: "Yes I am"
Macyn: "Its purple?"
Cosmetologist: "It is purple"
Macyn: "You like purple?"

2 Years, 7 Months

Don't let the pouty face fool you - Macyn is a pretty happy kid! I told her to make a funny face and this is what she came up with!

This month we have spent most of it outside. It is a struggle to ever stay inside without major temper tantrums. Its is nice to be out and I would much rather be out in this weather than when its 90 degrees and humid...ick! And Macyn has gotten quite the tan lines already - I especially like her flip flop tan on her feet!

Macyn has also become quite the mommy this month. We even bought her real baby diapers for her baby. She changes her diaper often and also burps, feeds, rocks, and sings her her baby. We had to bring her to walmart and have her ride in the cart. Needless to say she was pretty upset when we wouldn't let her change her baby's diaper on the changing table in the bathroom! She also likes to change her clothes and push her on the swings outside.

I know I said I would try and remember funny things she says/does and I am drawing a blank on a lot of them. Here are some things I can remember.

Macyn: "I had pizza yester-night!"

Macyn: "Me rub your back mommy?"
Me: "How are you going to do that?"
Macyn: "Carefully"

Macyn (trying to open a closet door): "I am having trouble, mommy" - its funny when they sound grown up

Macyn (getting into her cozy coupe): "I'm going to work, mommy. Be back in just a minute."

Macyn: "It smells in here"
Me: "like what?"
Macyn: "a trashcan."  or she responds "hogs"

Macyn has also become the pro of putting off bedtime by claiming she has to go potty (both 1 and 2), needs her blankie, needs something different to drink, etc. Sometimes she falls asleep asking and other times it takes hours for her to get to sleep.

She has also started biting things to let her frustrations out. I was tired of her being destructive, so I decided she would get a teeensy, teeensy bit of liquid soap on her tongue. She now goes around telling people, "I don't like soap. Its yucky!" The funny thing is, when I tell her she is going to get soap in her mouth, she opens up wide and lets me put it on her tongue.

Going out in public is still a challenge, but overall Macyn is a happy girl! She keeps us on our toes and is a good source of entertainment :)

Sunday Best

Macyn with my new plants from DH for Mother's Day

Mother's Day

We had a busy mother's day! First, we went to church and took some snapshots beforehand:
After church we had a get together at the park where DH grilled burgers and had a great time! After that it was time to come home to give Macyn a quick nap and then we were off again to my parent's house for supper - steak and chicken fajitas on the grill! They were delicious! I also helped out in making my fair share of side dishes, snacks, and dessert (recipes coming soon!)

• Corn with Noodles (not sure of the real name)
• Strawberry Cheesecake Salad
• Texas Caviar
• Butterfinger Pie

The biggest hits was the Texas Caviar and Strawberry Cheesecake Salad. I would have to agree. We also met up with my sisters and nephew Caden.
They are quite the kids. Even though they had a couple of spats here and there about sharing toys, they really do like each other!

I had a great Mother's Day spending it with family. Oh, and happy Mother's Day to you too, Mom :)

Homemade Presents

Macyn came home from daycare today with this - a CD case with a "Happy Mother's Day" piece of paper on the outside. I asked her, "What did you make?!" and she responded, "You can take it to work, Mommy!" Why, yes, Macyn....I do belive I will take it to work. Here is what was on the inside:
Her hand print and a picture of her. All I can say is, I LOVE her home made gift! Makes my heart melt and how proud she was to give it to me!

Easy Peasy Peanut Butter Cookies

Macyn has been a big help in the kitchen lately and wants to add ingredients to the bowl, stir, and help make food in general. Lately, I have been making super easy, 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies to help satisfy our sweet tooths.

Here is the recipe:
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg

Mix peanut butter, sugar, and egg together until smooth. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet two inches apart.  Press with fork; press again in opposite direction. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350ยบ

That's it! To make them extra tasty, add 1/4 cup of mini m&ms to the dough...yummy!

Green Thumb?

My columbines are in full bloom - something DID come up from last year! We have purple ones, pink ones, deep red ones, and white/yellow ones. They look really nice and the best part is, I didn't have to do anything to them...my kind of gardening!
