Scrub-a-Dub-Dubby, Macyn's in the Tubby!

We bought Macyn a new bathtub - a blow up ducky tub that quacks! She was getting too big (long) for her smaller tub, but still too little for the big tub. We figured this one sized right in between would be just right...and I think she likes it a little more too!

Library Laughs

Soooooooooooo DH, myself, and Macyn decided to go to the library today which is actually funny in itself because 1) I don't read. 2) DH doesnt read. 3) Macyn can't read. So why do we go to the library? For FREE movies of course! We ended up getting Slumdog Millionaire, Accepted, and Glory Road. Since we have a baby now, we have figured out that we don't always have time to watch movies. This way we have a week rent and its free, so if we don't have time, we aren't wasting any money. And besides, the last movie DH and I went to in the theater was when I was still preggo. So really, Slumdog Millionare is a new release to us.

I decided to break out of my shell and browse the books and magazines. I picked up a baby cook book - one to make your own baby foods and a slow cooker recipe book. I also decided to pick up a couple of American Baby magazines - lets face it, What to Expect the First Year sometimes gets a little boring.

So where does the "library laughs" part come in? When Josh, Macyn, and myself went to check out, Josh goes "Baby magazines?!" and I say with a dumb look "um......we have a baby?" and apparently that is the most humor the librarians get in a day because they both started dying laughing. One chimed in and goes "Men are totally clueless." Needless to say, I laughed pretty hard, and DH felt kinda dumb. haha. I think its a you-had-to-be-there moment!

4 Months Old!

As of February 14, Macyn is officially 4 months old! It has been quite a rough past month with a trip to the ER, Dr. visits just about weekly, and a case of RSV. Hopefully she had her last bloodwork done today. Other than that, it has been an exciting month! It is amazing how quickly they grow up. At her 4 month check up, she is 12lbs 12 oz (25%-50% percentile) and is very tall at 25.5" (90th percentile)! She has grown a whole 3 inches since her last check-up. It seems like every week she learns a new skill. First, she completely holds her head up, rolls over from front to back, makes high pitched squealing noises, laughs, and grabs for toys and smiles constantly. She loves playing in her bouncy seat and can even grab the toys and make them make noise! She kicks her legs and squeals - I LOVE that. Its so fun to watch her interact with things and even more amazing how fast she develops. She is starting to get to the "fun" stage and can't wait to see what she can do next! Lets just hope all the Dr. visits and sick days are over!

Bargains for Baby

My mom called me this morning and asked if I wanted to go to the overly-priced second hand store here in town, since they were having a 75% off sale. I decided I would go. If you remember, a few weeks ago I went to the same store when they were having 50% off and stocked up on sleepers and other pajamas. I figured today it would be mostly picked over since it was the last day of the sale. Boy was I wrong! There were all kinds of winter clothes and summer clothes too. I couldn't go too crazy though (once you have a baby, you know what I mean). I stuck mostly with clothes I knew she could wear in the coming months and picked up a skort and a dress for the summer. So all together I got 9 items for a grand total of $14. I think this has started to become my new favorite store - when things are on sale of course. Its my off-season of garage sales go to place now.

Look-A-Likes

I get a lot of comments on who Macyn looks like - her mommy or daddy. Most say dh, a couple say me. Most say she has dh's mouth, but not quite sure who's eyes she has... so I decided to let you guys decide....go ahead and take the poll on the right hand side of the page. Here are our baby pictures side by side. Me on the left, Macyn in the middle and DH on the right. Its fun to compare :)

3 Month Photos

I decided to try and take Macyn's 3 month photos. I bought a piece of white fabric from Wal-Mart for $2.99/yard and put a pink bow on Macyn's head and wall-ah! Instant studio! (ok, not really but not bad for someone who doesn't really know what their doing). I got a few good shots. A lot were blurry due to the fact I think I was zoomed in too far and not quite focused. I think it had something to do with my f-stop as to why my photos were blurry. But, nonetheless, I got enough good ones to put together a collage in Photoshop. I like it and I plan on doing one for her 6 month, 9 month, and 1 year photos. If for some reason they don't turn out, I always have Hills Photo Center to fall back on. It will also be fun to see how much she grows and changes. Here are some other photos from the shoot too:

A Little Update

I haven't been updating lately - alot has been going on! It all started a couple of weeks ago with a trip to the ER. Macyn had 102 degree fever. They ran tests for Influenza A, B, RSV, chest xrays, and a full blood workup. Found out all the illnesses came back negetive, but her liver enzymes were elevated.

This then lead to a follow up appointment which resulted in referring her to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Sanford.
After going to the appointment, she seemed completely healthy, but still had elevated enzymes. They ruled out the bad stuff (hepatitis) and thinks its either do to a viral infection, baby zantac, or a metabolic disorder. We are required to draw a liver function test again in 2 weeks to see where they are at. We then have a follow up in 6 weeks to do some more investigating, if needed.

Two days after this appointment she came down with a cough. We brought her in and found out she has RSV and an ear infection. RSV can be serious in little kids because it can block their airways or develop into pnemonia. We had a follow up appointment this morning and it seems to be getting better , but still have to look for some respiratory distress signals.

Sooooooo............that has been my last couple of weeks in a nutshell! I just want a healthy baby again! She doesn't really act sick too much so that makes it a little better.

...speaking of babies, Macyn has a new cousin (2nd cousin) born last night - his name is Tekoah! Can't wait to meet him, but have to wait until we are all healthy, of course!
