9 Months Old
Macyn is 9 months old and is 18 lbs 6 oz (50th percentile) and 28 1/2 inches long (90th percentile). She is a growing girl, that's for sure. She loves her baby food and puffs. We have started giving her pieces of table food at supper time and its hard to tell if she just likes mashing the food between her hands or if some actually makes it into her mouth! She likes potatoes, both in her mouth and to play with. This past month has also been a somewhat stressful one. She had gotten a couple more ear infections and the antibiotics were no longer helping. We decided to bite the bullet and get tubes put into he ears. The procedure itself took only about 15 minutes, but when she came out of anesthesia, she WAS NOT a happy camper! Once that wore off she was better. Since she has gotten tubes, we instantly noticed she could hear a lot better. The ENT doctor said there was still a lot of fluid on her ears, and she most likely has had muffled hearing for a while. She also seems happier not having the constant ear infections, too.
As of 9 months, Macyn is starting to get the hang of the concept of crawling (but since I'm writing this at 9 months and 5 days - she actually started crawling tonite!). She also tries pulling herself up onto things, but cannot quite make it to her feet. She can do it if she holds on to mine or DH's hands, but not on the couch yet.
She also got 2 teeth this past week too - her top ones! If you look close at the picture you can see them. She got one on Sunday and the other on Tuesday. I guess she broke her streak of only teething 1 tooth per month! I think her top side ones will be coming in any day too. My little baby is starting to not look like a little baby anymore! Shes growing up tooo fast!
She is no longer in her baby carrier (its only good up to 29"), so she is now in her rear facing convertible seat. I don't think she seems to mind, but when she sleeps her head hangs down in front instead of off to 1 side. We also ended up getting her a new crib. Ours was on the recall list, so we thought it would be better to be safe than sorry. The crib that we had was purchased at a garage sale for cheap ($35) and the manufacturer went out of business in 2005, so we decided to get a new one. We got a Graco crib in natural color from WalMart. We bought it online and was impressed when we took it out of the box. It matches everything else in the nursery perfectly! It also has 3 mattress adjustments (or old one had 2) and converts into a toddler bed, and headboard/foot board combo.
She's done so many new things this past month - wonder what next month will bring?!
