Snow Much Fun!

We decided to take advantage of the fresh fallen snow and above freezing temperatures with no wind this afternoon. We went outside and went sledding! Macyn wasn't so sure about her sled, which surprised me considering we pull her around in it all the time at our house. We did finally get her to sit in it, but it took a while for her to warm up enough to the idea of pulling her in it.
She first wanted to try out the slide which is on the swing set. I am pretty sure she liked it...see for yourself :)

After that, I said, "Macyn, lets go down the bunny hill!" And she was a little upset she couldn't find the bunny. She now walks around talking about the "bunny hill." Anyways, we convinced her to get into her sled and Daddy gave her a push.
Watch the video to see how she handled the "bunny hill."
After going down the hill a few times, I pulled her through the snow. Everything was going well until I kinda got her airborne and she rolled over and did a face plant in the snow. Complete white wash. We wiped her off and she didn't even cry. She did tell me that I had to stay outside and I couldn't come in the house. All in all, I think she had a great time playing out in the snow. Maybe we can even make a snowman one of these days!

Sunday Best

Today peanut wore her sweater dress and pink tights again. Except she had an addition - new silver boots from Auntie Brooke. Brooke seems to always get her the stylin' shoes :) After taking a few pictures, I never realized how long my kid's legs are:

I always knew she was tall since she wears all 3T clothes now - and even some 4T. But I never noticed it until now! Not sure who she gets that from!

Tantrums

Don't let this sweet little face fool ya - this kid can have quite the (ridiculous) tantrums. Here is just a sampling of tantrums our two year old has had in the past few days. Yes, few days.

• Macyn wanted to watch a movie which is fine. However, she wanted to watch Cinderella....a movie we don't even have. She was adamant  that we were watching it. We tried to tell her we didn't have it and we would have to get it from the library. She responded, "Lets go to library." I told her it was closed....which turned into another new tantrum. Since then she has asked to watch Cinderella 2 more times..which usually turned into the same tantrum.

• After daycare one day, Macyn wanted to eat a Mr. Freeze. I gave her one and she immediately got really mad and said, "NOOO...the freeze juice." Try explaining to a two year old they have to eat the solid part in order to get to the juice..

• One morning Macyn wanted a purple pop tart. So I gave her a purple pop tart and she immediately said, "No like that one - a blue one!" I explained all we had are purple ones and she responded by screaming, "no yucky purple ones!" I then gave her the box to just keep her occupied and I found her sitting on the couch, eating the exact same purple pop tart I gave her the first time.

• The same morning as the pop tart incident, I was putting together some soup in the slow cooker. She was really mad when I wouldn't give her a bowl of soup for breakfast.

• It recently snowed here, and when we put on her boots to go to daycare, she flipped out because she didn't want to wear her boots OR shoes. She wanted to wear....flip flops. Here's the kicker - we don't even have flip flops for her.

• And imagine tonight before we went out - threw the same tantrum about wearing flip flops, which resulted in holding her down to put on her shoes AND coat.

Even as these tantrums seem to be a little ridiculous, she really is a sweet little girl. On Friday at daycare she finally went potty (instead of holding it for 9 hours) and she said, "Mommy be so happy!"

2 Years 3 Months

Whew! Its been quite the month! Here are some major things that have gone this past month:

• Transitioning to a big girl bed
• Macyn's neck surgery
• Potty training started
• New cousin, Tyson

Macyn's transition to the big girl bed is going well. She still hasn't figured out that she can actually get out of bed by herself. I would rather have it this way then for her to always wander into our room in the wee hours of the night! We simply put her down, read some books, and sing. This was also a big step for us since we have always rocked her every night. I do miss those special cuddle times.

Macyn still continues to recover well from surgery. Her incision/scar area is looking better, but it is still somewhat swollen and hard under the skin. We still need to keep an eye on it. In a couple of weeks we can begin massaging the neck and put some cream on it to minimize the scarring tissue. It doesn't seem to bother her at all, but she still tells people. "Doctor take out my bump!" The other day she even said, "Justin Bieber take out my bump!" Is it bad that a two year old knows who Bieber is?!

Since my last post, I announced that we have began to potty train Macyn. Everything went smooth sailing until we hit a little road bump on Wednesday. She refused to sit on the potty at daycare. She would flail and scream. So, the next day at my in home daycare, I put her in underwear and she had no accidents all day and went on the potty. Friday at daycare they got her to go. I'm not sure why she was so scared of the potty, but it seems to be getting past it. I have changed her into underwear everyday after daycare and she keeps it dry. Last night she had two random accidents and I don't know why. Usually she says, "go potty!" But other than those two accidents last night, she has been accident free since last week Sunday. When we stopped at Walmart today, she told me she had to go. And she went! I am glad she knows to still tell me even though we aren't home. Even though she had 2 accidents yesterday, I will take it! 2 accidents/week is way better than I thought we would be doing!

In other news, DH's sister had her baby - a boy named Tyson. Now we need to teach Macyn that she has a nephew puppy named Tyson, and cousin named Tyson :)

Its funny because every time I write a blog post, I always have good stories, things Macyn has said, and now I draw a blank. Here are a couple of things I can quick think of off the top of my head:

Macyn is eating fruit snacks
Macyn: "All yummy ones mommy! No yellow yucky ones!"

In church this past Sunday during the prayers
Macyn:" No sleeping, Daddy! No sleeping!"

Looking at flashcards with letters and pictures. The letter is "q" and the word is "quilt." The picture shows a puppy under a blanket. I show her the card and ask what it is.
Macyn: "A child under the blankie"

Asking Macyn why she doesn't go potty at daycare
Macyn: "I go potty at home."
There are many more things she says. She puts together complete sentences all the time. She can't say her "f's" though, as they come out as the "h" sound. And for some reason elephant comes out as "innocent." Needless to say, she keeps us entertained! I think I will try and write down more things she says and does....maybe I can entertain you a little more next time!

Fingers Crossed!

First, a side note: We do NOT like the Yankees...go Twins!!

Okay, now that is cleared up, Macyn is standing next her her potty chart. After she was out of diapers this past week of daycare, I thought, why not try potty training this weekend? I already had a few pairs of training underwear, so we went to Walmart and bought real underwear for Macyn. That was on Thursday night, and she was adamant about wearing her Minnie Mouse ones.

So I hopped on the computer and made her potty chart for her. She gets a sticker every time she goes on the potty, and two stickers if she goes poo. We let her hang up her chart wherever she wanted and she chose right above her bed.

We let her wear them for 1/2 hour, and she went potty 2 times. That is how her "sticker collection" started. Friday morning she woke up saying, "underwear! underwear!" We put them on her and that didn't go so well. Two accidents in 1 hour. We weren't too upset since we weren't planning on starting until Saturday anyways.

Saturday morning we woke up and immediately put on her training underwear. They are kind of like cloth diapers, but only in underwear form. She had 3 accidents in the morning, and had none from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm! She was even starting to say, "go potty!" and we would run to the bathroom. Sometimes she can't hold it and dribbles a little in her underwear. She even succeeded in going poo in the potty as well! Before bed we had some bigger accidents - saying, "I peed in my underwear mommy!" and she left a little treasure in there as well...if you know what I mean.

So today we thought we would try again - wearing underwear. Guess what? NO ACCIDENTS! I seriously cannot believe it! Even in church today we put a pull up on her and she told me two times during the service that she had to go potty. We came home and put her underwear back on - her pull up was completely dry. Nap time rolled around later and she kept her pull up dry again! (we only let her wear pull ups while napping, and we use a diaper at night).

I am proud of Macyn for doing this so easily...so far. Knock on wood! She loves putting stickers on her collection, but we have to work on not saying, "Go potty! Hurry!" and then sitting down and saying, "I tooted on the potty - all done!" I had no idea until now how much the kid toots since we have to sit down for every single one ;)

I am really hoping tomorrow at daycare she keeps up the routine of going on the potty...and really hoping she doesn't regress. She seems super proud of herself - so hopefully she continues this and we can be diaper free!

63? I'll Take It!

I am the person who always enjoys having snow at Christmastime, but I really cannot complain about the 63ยบ weather on the 5th of January! I think it gives me spring fever even more now. Anyways, Macyn and myself played outside once I got home from work. It still got dark within a half hour, but it sure was nice to be able to do that in the middle of winter! Macyn had to try out all her cars and even figured out how to do donuts in the cozy coupe. Oh dear, I sure hope her reckless driving gets better in 14 years when she gets her license!

New Years Day

New Years Day was spent having one more Christmas on my Mom's side. Its a pretty big get together, since my Grandpa remarried after my grandma died. So we have all my step grandma's kids, and their kids, plus all of our aunts and uncles and cousins. There are getting to be quite a few babies around now - Macyn is the oldest at 2 years 2 months, and the youngest was 4 days old! 5 great grand kids 2 and under  always makes for an interesting time. Because of all the excitement, Macyn skipped on her nap, and you can see how tired she is by the look on her face opening presents:

Macyn received a new baby doll that laughs and cries - along with some accessories! My grandma also made a baby blanket for her new baby. She loves that doll and plays mommy for hours at a time. We even have to bring her along on road trips, and sometimes to daycare.
After we got home, Macyn crashed....completely. She didn't even wake up when we would sit her up or take off her coat. Thankfully the dog woke her up after 45 minutes of napping around 5:30 (bad idea when you try to get the kid to bed on time). Fortunately, it only took an hour and she slept for 12 hours...tired kiddo.

We had a great day with family, again! I like how the Christmases are spread out so we aren't so Christmas'd out by the 26th.
